HISTORY OF UCOBANK RETIREES’ ASSOCIATION KARNATAKA ( R )
The idea of a Retirees Association was conceptualized by UCOBank officers’ Association somewhere during 1992-1993 when the first batch of retirements began in the State of Karnataka. However, as the retirements were few and far between, the idea could not materialize. However a representative of the Retired officers was invited to the Executive committee meetings so that any problems of the retirees could be taken of.
At that time the issue of pension was still in the early stages and Trade Union organisations were negotiating with the IBA and the government of India for a pension Scheme for bank employees. The pension Scheme was implemented in 1995 effective from 1993 and also a provision for consolidated pension for retirees prior to 1986.
In view of this background retired officers felt a need for a representative organisation that would take up issues with management the real shape of the Retiree organisation took place when members of the retired officers met on 18/01/1997 at Regional office, Bangalore to discuss matters. A small team was elected among themselves. They are:
